Today we were scheduled to visit the air craft crew of the air national guard that was involved in Jake's rescue. It was very imformative. They told us how when Rick called the troopers the stages that it went through so that they were deployed to help. They showed us the helo and HC130 that transported Jake. They have agreements with the park service and the troopers to help as they are needed. It was quite the task to find Jake and then to put the PJs and Rick down to get to him. Jake really enjoyed seeing the aircraft and meeting the men because he kept saying that he slept through all of it. They were really nice and patient with all of the questions that we had. It is hard to describe the harrrowing rescues that these men do on a regular bases.
The writer from the Readers Digest was here so he tagged along and got their side of the story. He is going to be here the rest of the week, it has been hard not working into the converstion that the Wasilla Warriors are ranked #1 in state and that next week is our state tourney. I told Rick that we need to dress all week in Wasilla Warrior garb. I wanted to put a "state tree" up and decorate the house for state, you know red and white lights, basketballs all over the yard, and maybe a ref to throw snow balls at in the yard, but he thought that might be taking in a bit far.
Rick's mom and dad are coming in next week to watch the games. I hope the boys play well.
Oh by the way Jenn I will do my best at updating the blog, but I will be going to all of the games at least that first day, but Jake said that he can try and update from the motel room. If that doesn't work there is a web site, Jake calls it my gossip site, it is www.alaskapreps.rivals.com then you go to the message board and then to boys basketball. They are pretty good on updating scores.
Love to all
