Change of location leads to a change in rules

Jake has graduated from of the Adult Critical Care Unit and is moving up to the neurology unit on the fifth floor. Jake's therapists reemphasized this is still an acute critical care unit and for Jake to continue his progress he needs low stimulation. Therefore it was recommended that at this stage in recovery that only family members visit. They failed to mention that his room is so small visitors wouldn't fit anyways.

The staff has been so helpful, they moved a chair that makes into a bed in the room for his family members to continue to stay with him. They will not be alone, he will now have a staff member in the room 24 hours a day to monitor him. There is a phone in the room but in an effort to reduce extra stimulation they will not be utilizing it. If you would still like to stop by and encourage the family, please do so by going to the nurse's station and asking them to let Ant or Rick know you are there, and they will be happy to visit with you.
