Today we planned to go into Anchorage to see some of the guys who helped rescue Jake. There are 3 different places that we are going to visit. We went today to see the PJs (para jumpers). There were 2 involved in his rescue. One was in Kentucky, but the leading PJ, Redd, was here. He was the senior PJ on the rescue, and was the first to come up on Jake, he was laughing as he told us about being a little concerned when they were going in to get him. It was still dark and he was in the lead so he could only see a silloutte up ahead of him, he could hear some breathing noises and he thought it was a bear, his heart was racing. He watched for just a few seconds and realized that the silloutte was not moving and the breathing noises were closer than the object. it was Jake breathing and the silloutte was a rock. He said he was so excited. Redd came into the hospital at least 3 times that we know of to check up on Jake. He is really a special man with a special mission. He showed us some headlines that they have posted of other rescues although he said that most times their missions are just recovery. He showed us some of the equipment they have on site, the toys as he called them. He has been doing this for 23 years. It was really good to talk with him.
I know that Jake really enjoyed meeting him again.
Rick and Miah got back from "the Rock" which is lucky, one of our friends is still there weathered in, and that is a real bummer because the next flight that he could get booked on is tomorrow at 4:30 and that is only weather permitting and we play Palmer tomorrow night. Josie just has one more night of her CPR class, it went until 11:15 last night, I let her sleep in this morning and then she chastised me because she didn't want to miss her choir class, Miah could be late since they didn't get in until 2:00AM so I thought as long as he is sleeping I will let Josie sleep too. Guess I won't do that anymore.
Love to all
Ant
